Culture Tour & Cooking Class

Discover the secrets of traditional Lanna cuisine and the rich cultural heritage of northern Thailand with Horizon Village's Thai Cooking Class and Culture Tour in Chiang Mai. With two options to choose from, you can experience authentic cooking methods used by locals 100 years ago in a traditional Lanna house or learn modern cooking techniques in a contemporary, well-equipped cooking studio with everything you need to create the classic dishes of Thailand.

In our Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai, you’ll learn that all types of Thai cuisines use many ingredients. The ingredients are carefully blended to achieve the perfect balance of sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami flavors.

Our Thai cooking class includes various menus that allow you to prepare dishes at our hotel, such as the famous Khao Soy noodle soup of Chiang Mai or macrobiotic food designed to promote wellness. With the help of our experienced instructors, you will learn how to use a variety of herbs, spices and fresh ingredients to create delicious Thai dishes.

You'll learn what the local fruits and vegetables are in the northern region of Thailand and how to use them in the local Thai cuisine. You’ll learn how to prepare and cook fish, meat and poultry “Thai-style” to provide an extra level of authenticity to your dishes.

You’ll also be able to experience the tastes and aromas of the Lanna cuisine and the ingredients and spices they once used. Learn how to create a variety of authentic dishes you can impress your friends and family with back home.

After the cooking class, our Culture Tour will take you on a historic food tour to explore the five rooms of our museum and learn about the rich history of Lanna culture.

In the Hua Hin area, you see traces of the Lanna culture everywhere you go. Chiang Mai was the seat of the Lanna Kingdom for over 200 years, from 1292 to 1558. Today, a visit to the ancient “old town” section of Chiang Mai, with its surrounding moat and walls, is a must-see attraction and allows visitors to immerse themselves in the ancient and beautiful art and architecture of the former Lanna inhabitants.

At Holiday Village & Resort, we have a museum devoted to the ancient Lanna culture. Our knowledgeable staff will guide you through the different rooms of the museum, which represent the various occupations and social statuses of people in the past. Finally, you will return to the 100-year-old Lanna house to enjoy the dishes you cooked yourself using traditional cooking methods.

Join us for an unforgettable culinary and cultural experience that you will cherish for years to come.
